  • To book an appointment, you will be asked to create a profile
  • Please make sure to fill out “Intake Forms” in your client profile to ensure all necessary forms have been completed
  • We require a valid credit card or debit/credit card on file to reserve your session.
  • We do not offer direct billing at this time, however, we are happy to provide all receipts and invoices
  • We offer both virtual and in-person psychotherapy sessions at:

  • Session at the Beacon of Hope Community Clinic will be offered with a reduced price by therapists in training, conditions apply.
  • If you are a minor or booking for your minor, please book the consultation with our psychometrists first.

Please keep in mind that you MUST notify our office to cancel or reschedule the appointment 24 hours in advance during the work hours. Appointments on Sat, Sun, and Mon must be notified before 5 p.m. (EST) on Friday. Failure to do so will result in a missed appointment fee – 50% of the full session fee.

During your first session:
We will listen to the narratives of your concerns, and from there we can form a preliminary conceptualization of your struggles and difficulties. We’ll then get to know more about you and carefully select the most suitable approach. At the end of your consultation, we usually will help you understand how our therapists can help you in your journey.

Think of your first consultation as a discussion of your life experiences. This is your time to present problems and get an introduction of therapy and how it can help you.

We believe in providing our clients the proper care and attention to their mental health they need, while realizing that everyone’s situation is very different. As a result, the cost for a our private therapy services will vary, much like our fee schedule varies for assessments. A first psychotherapy consultation, however, is free of charge to everyone.

Individual therapy is a collaborative process with the client and therapist where common goals are worked on in each session. These goals may include improving one’s quality of life, overcoming stress, symptom management, learning coping skills, and/or improving self-image, concept, self-esteem.

Several forms of therapies are available for individuals, and the benefits are many, which include:

* One-on-one, undivided attention between yourself and your clinician
* A new addition to your support network
* Help with identifying underlying causes of symptoms of anxiety, depression, and more
* The opportunity to learn how to manage symptoms of anxiety, depression, trauma, and many other mental health struggles
* Gain a better understanding of yourself, while learning how to handle emotions, set boundaries, initiate coping strategies, and facilitate healthy lifestyle changes

Please note that we charge by hourly rate, a typical one-hour session is 50 minutes long with 10 minutes allocated to documentation and paperwork. For example, 1-hour session will be 50 mins, 1.5-hour session will be 80 mins, 2-hour session will be 110 mins, etc. If you need more details, please don't hesitate to reach our admin team at info@hopewoods.ca ;)

Dealing with life’s challenges can be difficult and overwhelming. There are times when you have limited resources and capacities to navigate through the various emotions, thoughts, and situations that arise, which impact each facet of your life. It takes great courage to acknowledge these struggles and seek out support. Engaging in therapy can help you gain insight on the complexities of your difficulties, provide you with the tools and guidance to better cope with them, and achieve positive change and well-being.

With a background in psychology, education and special needs, Elaine utilizes various therapeutic modalities, including person-centered therapy, Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT), strength-based approach and solution-focused therapy, in her clinical approach. She has extensive experience working with individuals with special needs or varying abilities, as well as those facing emotional difficulties and biopsychosocial challenges, such as anxiety, stress, relationship issues, and the emotional impact of receiving a diagnosis. It is important to her that each client feels heard and empowered to reclaim their self-confidence and autonomy and identify their strengths to foster better functioning. Elaine provides supports in a culturally sensitive, non-judgmental and empathetic manner, aiming to minimize clients’ stresses and barriers, develop their skills, and implement resources and strategies to cope with difficulties.

Starting therapy can feel daunting as it involves opening up about your struggles and vulnerabilities. I commend you for taking this courageous step. I am committed to creating a safe, inclusive, and comfortable space to navigate your unique therapeutic journey together. Navigating life transitions and coping with changes can be overwhelming. Experiencing and managing anxiety, depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder, grief and loss, low self-esteem, trauma, and stress can be challenging when faced alone.Receiving support in developing goals, acquiring new skills, develop greater self-confidence and receiving psychoeducation can empower individuals, couples, and families to overcome challenges and enhance their well-being. I am currently a master’s level MA in Counselling Psychology practicum student who is qualified to practice at the practicum site under the clinical supervision of an approved practicum supervisor. I have many years of experience working with vulnerable populations including children and adults with special needs. I have advocated and helped individuals connect to resources, foster resilience, increase self-awareness, and promote greater emotional balance. My aim is to support individuals through their healing journey, provide compassion care, help explore and process their thoughts and emotions in a safe space where they feel validated, accepted, respected, and empowered and more importantly understood.
