During your first session:
We will listen to the narratives of your concerns, and from there we can form a preliminary conceptualization of your struggles and difficulties. We’ll then get to know more about you and carefully select the most suitable approach. At the end of your consultation, we usually will help you understand how our therapists can help you in your journey.

Think of your first consultation as a discussion of your life experiences. This is your time to present problems and get an introduction of therapy and how it can help you.

We believe in providing our clients the proper care and attention to their mental health they need, while realizing that everyone’s situation is very different. As a result, the cost for a our private therapy services will vary, much like our fee schedule varies for assessments. A first psychotherapy consultation, however, is free of charge to everyone.

Family therapy sees your family as a whole unit, rather than a group of individuals, with this approach used to meet a variety of therapeutic outcomes. Rather than focusing on a single family member, we see individual and relationship problems as the result of issues within the dynamics of the family. Your therapist will help to identify issues in the patterns that contribute to the problems you’re having, and then help you to work on verbal and nonverbal communication styles to help transfer patterns and create positive change.

Some valid reasons families may seek out therapy include but not limit to:
* Relationship difficulties
* Family conflict
* Separation or divorce
* In-law interference
* Blended families
* Parent-child conflict
* Parenting issues
* Worried about children’s behaviour
* Child separation anxiety
* Teen behaviour issues
* Sibling rivalry
* Childhood abuse/neglect
* Interested in fostering or adopting children
* Managing/supporting LGBTQIA+, mixed race, cultural, ethnic, or religious differences within the family
* Self-esteem, depression, anxiety, and anger issues
* Stress and coping mechanisms
* Facing challenges of mental and/or physical illnesses
* Major life transitions (new baby, retirement, or death in the family)
* Seeking a closer relationship
* Changes associated with illness, mental health and substance use problems, unemployment/finances, moving, aging, and trauma
